British trio FLO crossed the pond for its Tiny Desk debut in Washington, D.C. So we obtained V.I.P. entry to Membership FLO courtesy of Stella Quaresma, Reneé Downer and Jorja Douglas, full with disco balls, martinis, a customized marquee and refined Easter eggs tucked between the cabinets for sharp-eyed followers. Nonetheless, not one of the glam outshines what issues most: their harmonies.
They open with a brand new tackle their debut single, “Cardboard Field,” instantly reminding us of the chemistry that launched them. We witness their sister-like vitality as they snigger, banter and dance their method by means of a number of songs from the Grammy-nominated album, Entry All Areas.
FLO delivers sultry standouts — “AAA” and “On & On” — and shares tales of relationship woes with “Get It Until I am Gone” and “Shoulda Woulda Coulda.” The trio closes with two unreleased tracks, “Remedy on the Membership” and “HaterBooth,” hinting at what’s subsequent. The set makes clear that their subsequent chapter will double down on highly effective vocals, sisterhood and a confidence sharpened by a transparent understanding of precisely what they’re able to.
