When Geese stopped by the NPR Music workplace in December, bassist Dominic DiGesu geeked out with a bag of trinkets to show on the Desk: a small, toy goose gifted to them on tour, a stuffed Snoopy, a figurine of Sonic cradling Jesus, Minecraft sticky notes and a Mets hat. Because the launch of 2025’s Getting Killed, the essential and fan reception has been wild and onerous to parse — even my colleagues at All Songs Thought-about dove into the phenomenon. However right here, the members of Geese ignore the noise and lean into their decade of collaboration collectively.
Geese’s set is charmingly earnest and a bit melancholy, targeted on the quieter moments of Getting Killed. It is really the band in its purest type. Frontperson Cameron Winter sings seated, gazing out as he strums his guitar. Emily Inexperienced shines shiny right here, preserving the heartbeat of the band as she performs guitar with a jagged edge. The remainder of the lot play principally with their eyes closed, locked into the songs they have been touring with since final spring. Because the music swells, like in “Half Actual,” Geese soars.
