Theatralia: Journal of Theatre Research is inviting you to submit your proposals for the upcoming spring subject of 2026.
Difficulty subject: Puppetry with(out) Classics
Difficulty Editors: Kateřina Dolenská (DAMU, Prague, Czech Republic, Editor-in-chief of Loutkář [Puppeteer]) and Gabriella Reuss (PPCU Budapest, Hungary, and KU Ružomberok, Slovakia)
We invite analysis articles (4,000‒7,000 phrases) that discover the custom, idea, apply, and even the avoidance of adapting classical works to the puppet stage. Recommended subjects embrace, however should not restricted to:

the simplified classics – the repertoire and dramaturgy of the travelling puppeteers and their position in popularizing and disseminating classical plots and narratives

performances of classical drama that intention to raise, emancipate and/or legitimize puppetry as a theatrical type equal in inventive energy to actors’ theatre
-
the efficiency of classical texts with the significant co-presence and interaction between the puppet and the seen puppeteer, including layers to the interpretation

references/allusions/traces of classical texts in puppet productions that play with the space, the emergence of visuality, and provides room for an elevated position of object theatre and know-how
-
causes, examples and tendencies of avoiding performing classical /canonized dramatic texts
For the Occasions, Archive, and Evaluation sections, we welcome contributions (1,000‒1,500 phrases) that spotlight current puppetry-related publications, festivals, conferences, performances, or report on initiatives/workshops/trainings or supplies and methods that needs to be preserved, or delivered to focus, inside the context of latest theatre research.
