Militarie Gun have revealed that their latest track ‘B A D I D E A’ was initially supposed for Doja Cat.
Final week, the fast-rising hardcore heroes introduced their new album ‘God Save the Gun’, and shared a brand new music video for lead single ‘B A D I D E A’. The monitor is a brief, two-minute hardcore banger, that by frontman Ian Shelton’s personal admission, virtually didn’t make the lower for the report.
Chatting with Zane Lowe for Apple Music, Militarie Gun revealed that the track was supposed for Doja Cat – who in 2023 shared that she needed to work on a hardcore album. She stated on the time: “I really feel like now we have sufficient pop-punk artists proper now. And if there must be extra, then let there be extra, however I don’t assume I’m the one to do it. I wish to discover extra of a uncooked, unfiltered, hardcore punk type of factor. It’s simply one thing that I’m doing for my very own private enjoyable — getting some drummers and guitarists collectively. And I don’t even know if that’s gonna make it on the market.”
Throughout their chat with Lowe, Militarie Gun frontman Ian Shelton shared: “‘B A D I D E A’ was a track that was on the final minute hatched, and it was really hatched ’trigger I wrote it for a hardcore report that Doja Cat needed to do. After which I used to be like, “Nah, I’m taking that.” For the instrumental, not the vocal. So I wrote the vocal after I knew it was for me.”

‘B A D I D E A’ got here with an accompanying music video, which the band have described because the “most technically difficult” one they’ve made up to now. It is only one of 14 songs on ‘God Save The Gun’. The follow-up to their 2023 debut ‘Life Beneath The Gun‘ is ready for launch on October 17 by way of Loma Vista, and you’ll pre-order/pre-save it right here.
‘Life Beneath The Gun’ was a deeply private exploration of the cyclical nature of trauma and dependancy inside households, with NME calling it a “highly effective, memorable assortment” in a four-star-review: “Structurally, the order of the tracklist ensures every monitor builds on its predecessor – it is a highly effective, memorable assortment. Accessible from the get-go, ‘Life Beneath The Gun’ carries a common message whereas staying true to its hardcore roots.”
Again in 2023, the band spoke to NME as a part of their characteristic on The Cowl, with members exploring how their sound has developed since their formation, and the way they hope their dwell performances will proceed to resonate with followers.
“Hardcore may be very youth-centric and it’s cathartic in a manner all people can relate to, as a result of it’s much less about an aesthetic and extra in regards to the vitality,” drummer Vince Nguyen stated. “Whether or not somebody is actively part of it or simply watching, they will really feel concerned and really feel like they’re part of one thing that’s larger than them.”
